The Law Faculty of Kazan Federal University is one of leading
schools in Russia providing higher education in the field of law.
The teaching stuff of the faculty includes 14 professors and about 40 candidates of science in law.
The Faculty provides full- and part-time, free and tuition-based education. Students can continue their education at Master and post-graduate levels. Curretly there are more than 3,200 students(including 1300 part-time students), about 200 postgraduate students and independent researchers at the Faculty. 457 students run for a second diploma of hidher education.
Teaching is provided in modern well-equipped classrooms using interactive methods of education and the latest technologies. All courses are aided with academic and methodological literature. Students can benefit from their use of reading halls, computer classes, modern gyms and the center of culture and entertainment.
At present, the Faculty consists of 7 departments and
Main scientific direction: social and legal fundamentals of strengthening Russian statehood in the environment of federalism,
democracy and international legal order in the 21st century. Each year Faculty professors publish 5-7 monographs, over 30 textbooks and manuals, more than 100 scientific articles in leading publishing houses of Kazan, Moscow and Saint Petersburg. «KSU Scientific Notes (Law)» and collections of candidate dissertation theses are published on a regular basis. Post-graduate students defend 25-30 dissertation theses each year at the Faculty. Professors act as opponents at the defense of doctoral and candidate theses and take an active part in international, national and regional scientific conferences and workshops.
The Faculty has councils for the defense of doctor theses:
- D 212.081.13 in specialities: 12.00.03 – civil law, business law, family law, international private law; 12.00.08 – criminal law, criminology, penal law. 12.00.10 - international law, european law (Chairman – Professor Kurdjukov G.I.);
- D 212.081.01. in specialities: 12.00.01 – theory and history of state and law, history of legal doctrines; 12.00.02 – constitutional law, municipal law (Chairman – Professor Reshetov Yu.S. ).
